OMG...Where has the time gone?

I haven't posted since March 1st! Oh My Gosh!!!! My life has been crazy...my boy’s sports are both starting; I have been working on some packing, we're moving this summer! And even though I have a HUGE pile of boxes you can't tell I have packed ANYTHING!!! I also have a HUGE pile for a garage sale which (weather permitting) we will hold next Saturday March 27th...Oh how I don't like having garage sales although I like going to them!!

Time flies when your life is busy!

My husband and I had to make one of the hardest decisions...well it was the hardest decision for me anyways! We had 2 dogs...Missy is 11 years old and Schatzi was 4 years old. Over the past 4-5 months Schatzi has become aggressive and mean! Before we went to CA for Christmas she and Missy got into a scuffle, Schatzi broke the skin on Missy's head and back of her neck. We didn't think much about it...we put medicine on it and went on our way. Everything was going good for the next few months. We had to take Missy in for a minor surgery on her back right below her neck and she had about 11 stitches due to the surgery. Still everything was good. 2 weeks later we took the stitches out...then Schatzi attacked Missy for no apparent reason pulling her incision open. So off to the vet we went to get more stitches and tubs etc. Then a few days later Schatzi was in Tristan's moon chair...I tipped the chair to get her to get out, she came after Tristan...she never actually bit him but she was planning on it! I went to her and spanked her then she attacked me, breaking the skin on my finger in a couple places. I put her outside for awhile letting both her and I calm down! Then this last Monday the 15th she attacked Missy while they were outside ripping Missy's about half of skin from her stitches! Off to the vet we go AGAIN!!!! Once I got there I noticed that Missy's fur on the side of her neck was red (from blood). So our vet/neighbor put her to sleep and shaved her neck to see what was going on...she had 4-5 puncture wounds on her neck where Schatzi had attacked her. So now she had to have her 3rd round of stitches, antibiotics, and vet bill!!!

Monday night my husband and I talked about what we were going to do...we thought about giving Schatzi to another family BUT how could we do that knowing that she has been attacking Missy and myself!? We thought about the pound but again how could we let someone else be at risk for injury?! So our final thought and decision was to put her to sleep! Like I said it was one of the HARDEST decisions have EVER had to make!!!

For all of you that don't know me...I get VERY attached to my animals...they are MY KIDS! THEY ARE MY FAMILY!!!

Anyways, we thought about telling the boys that we found someone to take her but our friends and family know the truth so what if it slipped out?! And then we thought well what kind of example would that be setting? Humm...its okay to lie if something is going to hurt someone! Yeah, not the Godly example I want to set for my boys! We ended up telling them the truth! Bryce took it VERY hard...he is like me in MOST ways! It didn't seem to affect Tristan!

So Monday night we spent the night loving her and telling her goodbye and how much we would miss her! Our vet/neighbor took her Tuesday morning! We did okay on Tuesday until he brought us her carrier...EMPTY!!! Then Bryce and I lost it all over again!

Please don't judge our decision...I am sharing just to share! You may have done something different and that is FINE! But my family and friends and friends kids and other animals were taken into consideration in our decision. AGAIN IT IS NOT A DECISION THAT WAS TAKEN LIGHTLY!

RIP...MY BABY GIRL!!! Keep Grandpa company while you wait for us!!! We love you and miss you everyday!!!!

Sweetheart, I am so sorry you had to make this hard decision, but I do believe it is the best one. Kirk had a dog that killed one of his cats and he gave it to another family instead of putting it down and it ended up biting a little girl. He feels badly about that to this day. You can not give an aggressive dog away like that, especially when it is happening over and over, someone will get really hurt, and if you did not do something she would have ended up killing Missy, she was much bigger, not to mention younger thus stronger. Know I am hugging you all, keep an eye on T, he may just be repressing. Love you, M

I know you made the right decision even if it was difficult. I had tears in my eyes as I read this. My heart is with you on this occasion. In time I hope you all only remember the happy memories. It is clear this doggy was well loved.
