Recently when a friend of mine was getting married I wanted to help her with anything that I could. So she sent me the following links to some "Pom Pom's" that she had found on How does She? and The Thrifty Crafter. Her colors were cream, black and red.
We decided to use coffee filters and tissue paper to make the Pom Pom's for her wedding. However; the coffee filters were too white...so we died them in coffee to create a creamy tan color. Then we traced the coffee filter onto a peice of cardboard to make a pattern for the tissue paper.
Here is a picture of the finished ones I made for my friends wedding.
Here is a picture of her wedding with the pom pom's hanging...so pretty!
I loved these SO much when I was done making them that I decided I wanted to make some for my bedroom to hang in a corner of my room for decoration.
They are SUPER easy to make however they do take some time to complete!
Here is what you will need:
Coffee filters or tissue paper (depending on the color you want)
Styrophom balls
Straight pins (we used satin pins)
Fishing line (for hanging...or you can use ribbon)
Here is the pattern for the tissue paper. Use a coffee filter to create the template. Layout the tissue paper, trace around the template then cut out!
Here is the died coffee filters vs. the undied ones...see the difference?
You will need to put a hole through the ball. This allows your line or ribbon to go through the ball for hanging. I used fishing line threaded through a needle then tied it onto itself for hanging.
To get the hole through the ball I used a wooden skewer.
Have fun with this inexpensive, fun, pretty project. These would be perfect for a girls room or any kind of party!!

Pretty. How do you secure the filters to the ball?
